When traveling with pets, it’s important to know the policies of the places you may be staying. When traveling overseas, these policies become even more important. There are many condos in Chiang Mai, but not all of them accept pets, so it’s crucial to know ahead of time that the place you rent allows pets and that you are aware of the conditions regarding pets when taking them to another country.
Having pets in condos in Chiang Mai is a possibility; you will just have to do some research to find the ones that allow them. Typically, you will have an easier time with privately owned condos accepting pets rather than the condo complexes, but as with anything, not every private owner will allow them and not every condo complex will forbid them.
Once you find a place that allows you to have pets in the condo you’re renting, be sure to know all of the immunizations and policies that you will need to adhere to in the airport as well as in check in, and know ahead of time any stipulations your condo has regarding your pet. Having your pets up to date on their shots and having a healthy pet are prime things to make sure you know and have in place.
The more luxurious condos are more than likely not going to allow pets, but if you do a search, you will be able to narrow your choices down to find what you’re looking for. Chiang Mai has a lot of what is called soi dogs and cats, or alley dogs and cats. They are running free and need to be regarded cautiously, especially if you are bringing a domesticated pet with you. Be very mindful of where you walk your pet, clean up after them out of courtesy for those guests who may not have pets, and if you have a cat with you, it is advisable to not let them outside because of the danger of these soi dogs and cats.
Places that allow pets in condos in Chiang Mai may charge an additional fee for your pet, but this is something that you can find out ahead of time and plan for. It should be on the property listing and if it isn’t be sure to contact them to ask. Pet fees will vary from place to place and there are places that don’t have fees as well.
Just because a condo allows you to have a pet, it doesn’t mean they will have pet amenities. There are pet stores and vets in Chiang Mai and again it is recommended that you know ahead of time where to find them in case of a pet emergency or in case you need to buy supplies. It’s recommended to bring your own water from home if possible and the dog or cats own pet food for a few days as traveling overseas can be very stressful for a pet.
Once you find a condo that will allow your pet in, you will be responsible for the care and feeding and bathroom needs of your pet. The fees involved may not be refundable and it’s up to you to make sure that your pet doesn’t do any damage to the property.
